North Shore Music Theater Post Coronavirus Pandemic
The coronavirus pandemic shut down the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, and other theaters all across the United States, for months at least. But after being closed for more than 18 months, the North Shore Music Theater finally opened its doors with several performances on September 17th, 2021. With the number of infections drastically reducing in most states across the U.S. many musical theaters have already reopened. Others like the North Shore Music Theater, which had not formally opened before Massachusetts closed its theaters, have already lined up a series of shows in 2022.
The Shows Must Go On
Theater personnel, musicians, and performers have most recently been working around the clock for the next set of performances, which hits the stage in 2022.
The North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) producing artistic director, Kevin Hill said things are slightly different for the theater's crew, with social distancing and masks required during rehearsals. Hill further said that lots of preparation need to be done before they can start bringing actors back in. As of now, the theater must fully adhere to the Actors Equity guidelines, which are currently mandating how things should be done.
When the actors aren’t preparing for live performances, they are required to be as careful as possible, especially when out in the public going for a coffee run or having dinner. Coming off from an extensive hiatus from live performances, everyone involved feels surreal that the theater is now opened and back to business.
“A Year with Frog and Toad”
“A Year with Frog and Toad” is a mega-hit Broadway show about two great friends – the grumpy toad and the cheerful frog – through 4 fun-filled seasons. The toad and frog plant gardens, learn life lessons, go sledding, and rake leaves along the way. The show tells the story of a great friendship that endures through the four seasons. The performances run on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11 am.
Covid Requirements
With the latest Center for Disease Control recommendations and the safety of all personnel, actors, and audiences, everyone will be required to wear covid compliant (KN 95 recommended) masks. All patrons will be required to wear the mask over the mouth and nose, regardless of whether or not they are vaccinated, while in the theater's lobby or any other indoor public spaces.
The masks can be swiftly but carefully adjusted while actively consuming beverages or food.
